The answer to
this question is no. Electric
wheelchairs actually remain charged for between fifteen to twenty-five hours
depending on the manufacturer.
Odds are that
you will not be using your electric wheelchair for an entire day. You will stop and sit for periods of
time. For this reason, it is difficult
for an electric wheelchair to run out of power.
If you get up at 7 o’clock in the morning, you can use the electric
wheelchair non-stop until 10 o’clock at night before you would run out of
battery power. With breaks for meals,
television, and periods of rest, you should not run out of battery power unless
you forgot to charge the electric wheelchair the night before.
Remember that
the battery needs between eight and fourteen hours of charging every time. Pay special attention to the voltage meter on
your electric wheelchair. The battery is
fully charged when the needle reaches zero.
The first time you charge the battery, allow it to take the full
fourteen hours to reach maximum power.

Looking at this
grid. If you get up at either 2 A.M. or
2 P.M., your electric wheelchair would have battery power until 5 P.M. or 2
A.M., respectively, with a fifteen-hour charge.
If the electric wheelchair battery power lasts twenty hours, you would
have until either 10 P.M. or 10 A.M. For
a twenty-five hour charge, you would have until 3 A.M. or 3 P.M. the next day.
As it can take
your electric wheelchair up to fourteen hours to become fully charged, you may
find you are awake before the chair is ready.
If this is the case, either lay in bed and watch television or read for
a few hours every night or every morning to allow the electric wheelchair
battery the extra time needed to fully charge.
